The concept of “reading literacy” has a wide meaning: it is not a reading technique, but it is the ability to understand different types of text and reflect on what has been read. Based on his/her age and psychophysiological characteristics, the student should be able to reflect on the content of the text, evaluate its meaning and significance, express his/her opinion about what he/she reads, and apply this knowledge in real life situations. Thus, reading literacy is not an indivisible unit, but a constantly evolving body of knowledge, skills and abilities.
Test questions are developed in accordance with the results of an internationally recognized research (PISA, PIRLS) that assesses the reading literacy of students around the world.

While organizing this Olympiad, we set the task not only to find smart students, but also to create a positive atmosphere of the mathematics’ celebration, to develop interest in solving problems and independent thinking, as well as to identify and develop students' creative skills and interest in research.
